The comic strip made its debut in 1950 with only CharlieBrown, a girl named Patty, Shermy, and, shortly after, Snoopy, but began toexpand with the help of television specials such as A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966). Perhaps even moreadorably, many of the voices in A Charlie Brown Christmas were children thatlived in the neighborhood with Charles Schulz. In fact, much of the content of Peanuts – and especially Charlie Brown's endeavors – were informed by CharlesSchulz's own childhood experiences.
